easter in Vancouver

We had a world-wind Easter this year. We must have been busy because we took no pictures!

Linda and Ron had us all over for a combined Easter/birthday dinner.

Here is Cindy with her 40th bday cake. Everything was yummy!

Dad and Judy also hosted a dinner. Too bad Suds was already back in Hong Kong. It was delish!!

We also found time to check out the new Starlight Casino and the adjoining sports bar. Good thing we've moved because all we did was lose money :) But the mini golf was fun.

Cathy whipped up a fabulous Sunday brunch before I left. Eggs Benny, my fav!!!

baseball tournament in Manila

A few weekends ago, I went down to Manila for a baseball tournament with a team from Hong Kong.

Our team lost three games by one run, so no, we didn't place.
Perfect weather, 27 degrees and overcast.

The guys betting 'hit or no hit' on the games with the Filipino Peso.

Massages in between games!

Clinton took a ball to the gut trying to break up a double play at second!

Dragon's Back hike

Today Suds, Gill and I hiked the Dragon's Back. We met up at Shau Kei Wan MTR station and then caught a bus heading towards Shek O beach.

Here we are at the start of the trail.

The view up above Shek O beach. Too bad the visibility isn't that great today.

The hike took us 2 1/2 hours. The first bit was uphill but afterwards it was fairly flat before a long downhill stretch.

At the end of the hike is Big Wave Bay and LUNCH!! Poor Suds packed our suits this whole way but the water was a little chilly when combined with the breeze and overcast weather. Neither of us went in.

After dipping our feet in the sea we caught the bus back to the MTR station.

Chanel Mobile Art exhibition

Suds and I recently visited the Chanel Mobile Art container here in Hong Kong. It is a movable container designed by Zaha Hadid. It will be traveling to Tokyo, New York, Paris and London.

Inside are the works of 20 contemporary artist inspired by the famous Chanel quilted bag. The only artist involved I had heard of was Yoko Ono.
Featured artists include: Lee Bul, Daniel Buren, Blue Noses, David Levinthal, Fabrice Hyber, Leandro Erlich, Loris Cecchini, Michael Lin, Nobuyoshi Araki, Pierre & Gilles, Sophie Calle, Soju Tao, Stephen Shore, Subodh Gupta, Sylvie Fleury, Tabaimo, Wim Delvoye, Yang Fudong, Yoko Ono, and Y.Z. Kami.

We had no idea what to expect. After entering you are loaned an ipod with a 32 minute follow along guide to walk you thru the exhibition.

There were some strange things inside this thing....a swing with a sex toy seat, video of fat people on air mattress', and stuffed pigs covered in tattoos.

Can't say we were impressed with the majority of what we saw, you know how I am a real art lover :) But there was a neat piece called Sidewalk Reflections (I think) by Leandro Erlich.
