This week was my last week at 2 of my schools. As a special treat I brought in candy to give to each of the kids. They loved it!

Here I am with my K1 class singing a song "Peel the Banana"

K2's.
You've gotta throw the Peace sign!

The K3's
They are graduating and going to Primary school.

I still have 2 more weeks of teaching at my Wednesday school. Here is my new updated for summer poster board.

Hopefully soon after my last day I will be in Vancouver!

Weekend away in Bali

Here I am on Friday just landed in Denpassar, Bali.

We stayed 3 nights at the Hard Rock Hotel.

It was a great hotel but we were surprised at how many kids and families there were. We thought it would have a "hipper" crowd.

We arrived at the hotel about 4PM. After a quick snack we headed across the street to Kuta beach to catch the sunset.

We got some fab shots of the sun setting.

Saturday I signed up for a surf lesson. At the end of my hour lesson I was (miraculously) able to stand up on the board.

Afterwards Suds rented a boogie board to play in the waves.

After all that water play it was time for an hour long massage :)

Even Ronald surfs in Bali!!

I never wanted to leave the hotel! Here we are at the swim up bar, having an afternoon drink.

The pool was amazing!!
Half of the pool had a sandy bottom and beach area. It was so cool!
I desperately wanted to rent out a cabana and pretend to be a celebrity but Suds wasn't interested.

Sunday and Suds rents a surf board.

He could stand up right away!

Now Suds is the celebrity! I am not exactly sure why, but a few times when we have been away people will come up and ask for us to be in their holiday pics. I guess so they can show their friends the freaky white people. Once one person asked, all their friends got in the shot!!

There are shrines all over the place! Every morning you see people carrying trays outside with stuff to offer to the gods. They would have a little basket filled with blossoms, inscence to light, some water and a little snack of rice or sweet.

Sunday night we went out for dinner at a great place called Maccaroni. It was just down frrom Paddy's bar where the 2002 bombings happened.

There is a large memorial there commemorating the over 200 people killed.

There is a lot of security in Bali now. Here is a pic of the gate into the hotel. Every car that comes in is searched for bombs. Out on the streets there are lots of security guards and tourist police.

Monday and time to leave. We hope to get back to Bali (and hopefully the Hard Rock Hotel) soon!

Tim Horton's

I arrived in Vancouver on Thursday. First thing Friday morning Shannon and I headed to Tim Horton's for my breakfast sandwich. She was not impressed to be having her photo taken. In fact, she was so unhappy with the resulting photo post she sent me an email titled %uck you!
(with proper spelling). Ouch!!! So now only her hair has made it on :) Sorry Shannon!

Mecca

The first bite. Look at what a clear and beautiful day it is in Vancouver!

Are my eyes actually rolled back in my head?

Satisfaction!

Rob and Kristan get married

On Saturday June 9th Suds' cousin Kristan got married to Rob at Deer Lake.

It ended up pouring down with rain. Thankfully there was a big tent!

Poor Nick didn't have a jacket and was cold.

The time in between was spent at 8 Rinks (Home of the Canucks) snacking and drinking Caesars

The reception was held at the Rowing Club. It was a great location right on the lake. The decorations were fabulous!

It was a full house!

The cutting of the cake. Rob and Kristan actually did smoosh cake into each others faces :)

The after party...for us anyways. We headed into New West and popped into a house party.

People always ask us how the Chinese food is here.....

This menu item is exactly why we stick with Indian or Thai food!
