What I have no pictures of, is how our plane was delayed 4 hours, meaning we arrived at 11PM before boarding a bus for 6 hours. This meant we arrived at camp at 6am and were to race at 7am!!!!!
Good news is the race was delayed till 10am, bad news is we had to run in the hottest part of the day.
"Velcome to Gobi"
Yes we were running in the Gobi desert.
We slept in a Mongolian yurt, called a ger. Camp stayed the same but our race route changed each day, always with very different scenery.
This is the view from my ger.
Not my leg tan line thankfully! This is what happens after many hours with the sun behind you. Someone asked her if she had showered yet :)
Our camp
On our third day we ran through amazing rock formations
It's over!
The race was exhausting, both physically and emotionally. Crossing the finish line I totally broke down.
A true Mongolian
7 hours on the bus back into Ulannabaatar, the capital of Mongolia. Driving through during daylight hours we were able to see the few and far between towns.
Tire blow out
Never did I imagine placing in the top 3. Man was I ever surprised!
