My Dads 60th B-day present from everyone was a trip to New York to see the Yankees play, and I was the lucky one to go with him.
Boarding the Cathay 747 to NY.
New York Yankees played the Toronto Blue Jays 7pm on Fri and 1pm on Sat.
Checked out Times Square and picked up game tickets from Jon (HKG softball), whose office is a few blocks away.
Times Square really is a square with the big video images on either end. Almost like a mirror image of this picture.
Started a bus tour of the city with informative narrators. Here we are by Central Park.
There were three different tours of NY, we managed two. Lower and Upper Manhattan and missed out on the Brooklyn tour.
The Bull by Wall St.
Actor from Law and Order SVU.
Empire State building.
Had Kebobs for lunch. This place was just around the corner from ground zero.
New 'Freedom' tower to be built.
In front of Yankee Stadium.
Next year will be the last year for this stadium, that was built in 1923.
Probably good riddance too! The corridors are small, no good food, hard to find seats, bad speaker system, no good scoreboard, some obstructed views, etc.
As one local said 'burn this place down!'
Beer and hot dog (12$), typical food.
A-rod and Jeter, 3rd base and short stop.
Cheap beer across the street where there are a bunch of sports bars.
Nice pic of the stadium at night.
Good field for the players at least.
7 hours of baseball each day!
1st game went into extra innings and finished in the 14th with a Blue Jay homer at 1am.
2nd game started with an hour and half rain delay. We arrived at 11am and had to leave at 7pm to catch our flight and the game was still going on.
In Center field is Memorial Park, a place that honours some of the Yankees greatest players.
