We are now back in Hong Kong. Sadly poor Lexi got sick just days before we returned.
Her caretakers while we were away, Johan and Ann noticed some blood and took her to the vet. Lexi was diagnosed with stones in her bladder.
The decision for surgery was made because Lex was in a fair amount of pain.
We were able to pick her up the morning we returned. Dr Maggie Bradley who owns the hospital and preformed the surgery explained it all to us. Some stones are smooth and they simply cut a small incision in the bladder and flush or scoop out the stones. Lexi's stones were jagged and piercing her bladder. This meant that they had to make a larger incision and carefully remove each stone by hand.
The stones are being sent off so we can find out what has caused this and if it will return (in which case we will be setting up one of those online begging sites Hilary has on her blog!) Her wound looks so big and scary in real life but she is shy to show it off. Maybe she is embarrassed by her naked belly? She also has a bald spot on her arm where they had to put in an IV.
She is recovering well with lots of extra cuddles from us. The only worrying bit is she hasn't been eating much (but is drinking water) . She has a few more days of medication and then hopefully all will be well.
Please feel free to write her notes in the comments section and I will read them out to her.
